Margaret, Annie & James Bonner
Margaret O'Donnell was born on April
15, 1894 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She was
the daughter of John & Annie
O'Donnell. Her father was a Coal Miner
and her mother was a School Teacher
and Mohawk Indian. Her mother died
but a few months after giving birth.
Her father could not bare the loss of his
wife and gave her up for adoption to his
relatives, the Bonner's. She met her
future husband United States Navy
Sailor Auguste Joseph Lehe at
Franklin Square Park while in port at
Philadelphia. They instantly fell in love
and while she was only 16 and
forbidden to him, she decided to run
away from home. She lied about her
age of 18 and was only 17 when she
married at Wilmington Delaware. They
had 13 children and lived most of their
lives in Hudson County, New Jersey.
She died September 14, 1974 in North
Bergen, New Jersey.
